West Brom defender Billy Jones has urged his teammates not to fret over their Capital One Cup exit and has told them to bounce back from the defeat.
The Baggies suffered their first home defeat of the season as they took on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 in the Capital one Cup. Having ousted the Reds in the opening week of the Premier League in an impressive 3-0 score line, many expected a repeat of the fixture.
West Brom were favourites going into the game, considering their impressive domestic form. The Baggies had only lost one game in the league, which was against Fulham at Craven Cottage. The club had managed 10 points from a possible 15, which included a draw
against Tottenham and a win against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019.
Liverpool lay in contrast, not being able to manage a single win in the Premier League this season. The Reds had experienced two defeats at home and drew the remainder of their games. Liverpool are currently having their worst start to a season in over 100
years.
It didn’t come as a shock when West Brom took the lead in the opening minutes of the game through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gabriel-Tamas-c14343. The player pounced on a loose ball that was mishandled by keeper Bradley Jones and gave the hosts the lead.
Liverpool responded quickly though, firing in two goals courtesy of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ben-Foster-c7445, who misjudged the ball and let it crawl underneath him.
The Baggies were knocked out of the competition, and manager Steve Clarke was clearly disappointed as the most likely shot at winning silverware went begging.
Defender Billy Jones insists that West Brom need to bounce back and recover from their league cup exit.
“The best thing after a disappointing performance, which has led to losing a game, is for another game to come around quickly,” said Jones.
“We’ve got three days and then we’re playing the derby. It’s coming around quickly and we’re looking forward to it.”
“We had a disappointing result against Fulham but we came back. That’s the sign of a good team. And if we can do that again on Sunday that would be great.”
