Jonjo O'Neill targeting major victories with Taquin Du Seuil
Jonjo O'Neill is targeting some big race victories with his French challenger, Taquin Du Seuil, who has been delivering some terrific results while hurdling in recent times.
The five-year-old gelding brought up a couple of impressive victories under veteran jockey, A. P. McCoy, and the pair has a solid chance of continuing this impressive partnership in the future events.
O'Neill was really pleased with the performances of his trainee and said, “We've always thought a bit of him. He jumped well and travelled. It was a bit of a muddling race, but he did it well so we're very pleased with him. He was very keen early on, but
AP got him settled and seemed to be happy with him all the way after that.”
Taquin Du Seuil had a solid chance of winning three consecutive races over hurdles, but he was unable to do so. He ended up as a runner up in one of those events, which was also not a bad result at all for him.
His trainer was not disappointed with the second place at Ascot and claimed that the better horse ended up on top of the table in the end. However, he was optimistic about the future and said hoped that things would continue moving in a positive direction.
He revealed some of the future plans of his stallion saying, “I'll put him in the Challow and the Tolworth. As far as I've got at home, he is (Festival class), you'd look forward to going there with a live chance.”
Taquin Du Seuil does not have a very good winning percentage, when it comes to his overall record. The main reason for that has been his lack of competitiveness on a flat turf.
However, things are completely different in case of hurdling, as he likes running in this format. He knows how to deliver over the fences and uses a perfect technique to cause problems for his rivals.
The young runner has just started hurdling in recent times. He started off his career in 2010, but in a completely different format. He now seems to have identified his strength, which is jumping over hurdles.
