Jonny Bairstow looked in two minds against West Indies, says Tim Bresnan – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 at the Lord’s.
Having performed superbly for his county and England http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808, the Yorkshire batsman is making a comeback to the national side after Kevin Pietersen’s controversial exclusion.
The 22-year-old cricketer made his way to the highest level of the game earlier this year, when he was given the Test cap against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760. However, Bairstow failed to live up to the expectations, failing in all four innings in
which he batted.
Bresnan, who is England’s premier all-rounder in all formats of the game, rates the youngster very high, but thinks that Bairstow failed to come good against the Caribbean men because he did not play his natural game and curbed his
instincts.
The 27-year-old cricketer advised his teammate at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yorkshire-c867 to be aggressive on his comeback and play his shots, which is the only way he can be successful at the ultimate level of the game.
"He just looked in two minds about what to do with it," Bresnan said. "When I've seen him play in county cricket he tends to just smash it in the stand. If that's his way of doing it then that's what he needs to do at this level as
well."
Bairstow has so far scored more than 3700 runs in the 60 first-class matches he has played, with the help of seven hundreds and 24 half-centuries.
Bresnan further added that many players succumb under pressure initially at the world stage and the same thing happened to the middle-order batsman. The all-rounder however, is hopeful that Bairstow will not repeat the same mistakes
against the Proteas.
"Maybe in his first Test he decided to do something different when he came up against the West Indies which is nothing new there. It's just a bit of inexperience creeping in because you don't want to get caught on the hook in your
first Test match," the all-rounder added.
