Manchester United’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrice-Evra-c29231 and Luis Suarez should have overcome their differences a long time ago.
Suarez went on to serve an eight game ban, following some racist comments that he directed towards Evra, earlier in the season.
However, the striker managed to return in time to take on the Red Devils once again, as he was included in the starting eleven for Liverpool, as they faced United in the league, this past weekend.
Prior to the game, both teams went on to shake each other’s hands, but despite Evra looking to shake Suarez’s hand, the Uruguayan went on to evade the defender and marched on forward. This not only infuriated Evra, but got a reaction from just about everyone
watching.
Evans believes that all Suarez had to do was shake Evra’s hand and the issue would have been a part of history.
The United centre back also went on to reveal that him and a number of other members of the Red Devils squad had talked to Evra before the game and asked him to forget about what had happened in the past and go on and shake the Uruguayan’s hand.
Nonetheless, Evans and almost everyone else were quite disappointed with the way Suarez acted and the defender feels that Suarez’s reputation has now taken a turn for the worst.
The defender is quoted to have said: “We had been talking about it in the changing-room and whether he [Evra] would shake his [Suarez’s] hand”
“Myself and a few other players said to Patrice ‘just shake his hand, because you have nothing to be ashamed of or hide’. I said ‘I think if you offer a handshake then you’ll come out with a lot of respect’.”
“It’s disappointing he [Suarez] didn’t shake his hand because Patrice was the one who has been racially abused.”
Since the game, Suarez has gone on to apologise for his actions, while http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 has also issued a public apology to United and Evra for the way the striker behaved.
Despite this fact, what can be said assuredly, is that it’s going to be interesting to see just how the two player react the next time they are on the pitch together.
