Jonny Evans insists there was no cruelty in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stuart-Holden-c34260 tackle – Premier League news
Manchester United defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonny-Evans-c19085 claims that he had no cruel intentions for his tackle that ended Stuart Holden’s ongoing 2010-11 campaign.
Holden has been ruled out for six months after a terrifying tackle which needed 26 stitches on his knee. Evans admitted that he initially thought that the tackle was fair and he was hard done by the referee’s decision to show him the red card but after watching
the replays, he changed his mind.
Evans said, “I just said [to Holden] I was sorry, and that I didn't mean to go in and hurt him. At the time I did think I'd gone in for a fair challenge and I'd won the ball. But looking back on it when I went straight off the pitch and into the changing
rooms and saw the tackle again, I realized it wasn't a good tackle from myself - and my concerns were immediately with Stuart.”
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Republic-of-Ireland-c2987 international heard the news through Bolton Wanderers’ doctors and immediately rang Holden to apologise. He believes that nobody wants to be sidelined for a long period of time and he is disappointed that Holden had to face it because
of him.
Holden is an important figure in the Bolton Wanderers team and will be surely missed by the Trotters who are challenging for a place in the UEFA Europa League.
The former Manchester United defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Craig-Cathcart-c9473 leapt to Evans defence and said that he did not mean to hurt anybody with the tackle and it was totally unintentional.
“It was just one of those 50-50 challenges and he was unlucky because he caught the lad. It could have happened the other way with the lad hurting Jonny and as the referee saw the injury it caused that swayed his mind to show the red card,” Cathcart said.
Cathcart feels sorry for Holden as he will miss the FA Cup semi-final in April 2011 and has wished him a speedy recovery.
