The young central defender sheds light on the hard task of making it into the first team at Old Trafford and how players have to raise their game at Manchester United in order to stay at the club for an extend period of time
in the Premier League..
Evans has come out and made it clear that he has to raise his game to grab his big opportunity at Manchester United in December last year when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nemanja-Vidic-c27550 was declared to be out of action for the remainder of the Premier League
season.
Evans had to fight off competition for a permanent place in the Manchester United line up from the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Phil-Jones-c29903 and the Northern Irish defender has done remarkably well for someone who was thought to be
lacking the talent to make it big at Manchester United.
This season Evans has formed a formidable partnership with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rio-Ferdinand-c31173 and the youthful footballer is now a sure shot shoe in for the upcoming Manchester derby which might decide the course of the Premier League title race. In
their rise to the top of the league table, Manchester United have indeed benefitted from Evans’ form which has been surprising to say the least.
Evans said, "You either rise to it or you don't, and if you don't then you don't deserve to be at a club like Manchester United. Those are the sorts of challenges everybody here faces - when that happens it's up to you to try and
raise your game and get back into the team. When I came back from being on loan at Sunderland [in 2007-08] I never thought I'd go on to play more than 30 games in my first season at United. That was crazy.”
He added, "And I don't think about how many games I might end up playing. My aim is always to just get into the next team and then play well. I've been here about four years and I've played 120-odd games - that's about 30 a season.
Hopefully I can add a few more to that next year."
