The Northern Irishman reveals that the whole squad wanted to move on from what happened at Anfield but Suarez’s refusal to shake hands was disappointing in the end...
Evans has come out and said that Luis Suarez’s refusal to shake hands with Patrice Evra caused a stir before the kickoff between Manchester United and Liverpool on the past weekend, a match that was embroiled in controversy throughout
the 90 minutes. In the end, Manchester United ended up as eventual winners by two goals to one but it was Suarez who still took the headlines along with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrice-Evra-c29231.
In the past match hand shaking ritual between the two teams, Suarez refused to shake hands with Evra whom he had racially abused according to the F.A report earlier on in the season when both the teams had met at Anfield in the
Premier League. Suarez netted http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809’s only goal of the match as well but it wasn’t enough to take away points from the Theatre of Dreams as Manchester United held on to gain all three points.
Evans said in his post-match comments, “We had been talking about it in the changing-room and whether he [Evra] would shake his [Suarez’s] hand. Myself and a few other players said to Patrice ‘just shake his hand, because you have
nothing to be ashamed of or hide’. I said ‘I think if you offer a handshake then you’ll come out with a lot of respect’.
He added, “It’s disappointing he [Suarez] didn’t shake his hand because Patrice was the one who has been racially abused. I think it could have ended there and then with a handshake. I actually didn’t know Suarez had refused the
handshake because I was a bit further down the line. I didn’t know what had gone on but I heard a bit of crowd reaction. There was a bit of animosity created over the handshake, other players noticed it.”

so that they can climb to the top of the table as they still occupy the second place spot in the Premier League rankings.
