Jonny Evans to fight for spot in Manchester United first-team
Manchester United defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonny-Evans-c19085 has gone on to state that he is willing to fight for his spot in the first team, this coming season.
The player made these comments following the signing of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson is going to have to end up picking one of the two, when he pens down his team sheets.
However, despite that fact, Evans strongly feels that he is always going to have a spot in the team’s starting eleven and even if there isn’t, he is more than willing to fight for his spot in the team.
When talking about United and the challanges that he faces with the team, Evans is quoted to have said: "I have always thought that being at a club like Manchester United, if you can't accept a challenge of someone wanting your spot, you don't deserve to
be here.
"That is what Manchester United is all about. You are constantly being tested.
"It is down to you, whether you are good enough, or whether you are putting the effort in to play for the first team."
However, despite having said that, the player then turned his attention to the humiliating defeat that the Red Devils suffered at the hands of Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League final last season.
United went on to lose out to the Catalans by a score line of three goals to one and as a result, ended up coming second, to the Spaniards in the competition.
Evans strongly feels that despite being as successful as the team has been, a defeat like that is going to stick with the players and that it might be a whole before they actually overcome it.
Evans then went on to add:"That defeat will stick in the lads' heads.
"These lads have been so successful throughout their careers but they still remember defeats.
"I am sure they will have that at the back of their minds coming into the new season.”
Having already made a number of signings this summer and with the team already looking to add to their squad within the coming weeks, it is safe to say that United might be able to take a completely new mindset, into the new season.
The team was brilliant last season and should they be able to tie up all their loose ends, they could potentially even go on to beat http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604, should the two teams meet once again.
