Jonny Lomax signs four-year deal with St. Helens - Rugby League update

St. Helens confirmed on Tuesday, November 29, that Jonny Lomax has penned a four-year-deal with the club, with which the player embarked on his professional first grade rugby league career in 2009, from amateur club, Orrell St. James.
Lomax is a versatile utility back for the Saints who fits well for either on field positions, including scrum-half, winger and stand-off. His retention at the club is considered one of the best steps taken by the club, where the 21-year-old played 29 games
and scored nine vital tries.
While talking about the future commitment to his long-time club, Lomax stated, “I’m more than happy to be signing a long-term deal with my home-town club. There were still two years left on my existing deal, but I was keen to extend it further.”
He added, “There is real excitement concerning the team and in the town at the present moment, with the new stadium about to open, and we can’t wait to be playing there.”
The player further went on and mentioned that despite two years still remaining on his contract, he wanted to extend his stay at the club because he believes that the Saints’ squad is very strong and their hunger for success makes the whole deal very exciting.
The player is looking forward to be part of Saints for a long period of time.
While talking about Saints’ exceptional player, Lomax, club’s chairman, Eamonn McManus, acknowledged that at the young age of 21 the player is already one of the best rugby league players and there is room for improvement.
McManus added that they were really proud of that fact because the player was another commendable product of their Academy system.
It really pleased the club when the Lomax agreed to commit himself unconditionally to Saints, Super League and Rugby League for next four years. Saints are all set to play on Langtree Park and this news is a huge news for them, McManus branded him as a future
star of their times.
While talking to media, the Head coach, Royce Simmons, also agreed that the player is a commendable talent and is worth retaining at Saints. He shared that the player has proven his mettle according to international standards, which will benefit English
and Helens a great deal.
