Former South African cricketer, Jonty Rhodes, has pushed the International Cricket Council (ICC) to use all possible options to keep the game clean from the menace of corruption.
Widely regarded as one the best fielders ever in the history of cricket, Rhodes is currently shouldering his responsibilities as fielding coach of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians, who recently won the Champions League Twenty20.
He was a key member of the South African side under the captaincy of the late http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wessel-Johannes-Cronje-c96502, whose links with match-fixers marked the end of his career.
However, Rhodes refrained from making any clear comments on Cronje’s case, saying, "Hansie Cronje was my colleague and we had no idea he was doing something like that. The ICC has put the mechanism in place. I'm sure ICC is doing enough and should make every
effort to keep this game clean."
Rhodes’ remarks about match-fixing came as a result of the fixer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Salman-Butt-c2418, in London.
While expressing his views on corruption in the game, the great fielder talked about the upcoming One Day International (ODI) series between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hyderabad-c792, on October 14, 2011.
He shared that despite losing the recent clash in England, Team India is good enough to beat mighty England in local conditions. Expecting the Men in Blue to comeback strongly, he cited that fielding will play an important role in the series, adding that
the team with good field work will surely have better chances in the crucial competition.
"I will give you the example of the World Cup final between India and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 (India skipper), it was the first five overs that changed the game. Indian fielders did not allow anything to get past
them. That made a major difference to the outcome," added the 42-year-old former cricketer who took 105 catches during his 245-ODI-old career.
