Jonty Rhodes wants young Indian players to learn from Sachin Tendulkar – Cricket News Update
Former South African cricketer and the fielding coach of Mumbai Indians, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harbhajan-Singh-c61453.
Tendulkar is considered to be one of the greatest batsmen in the history of the game, as the 39-year-old Master Blaster has more than 33000 runs in international cricket under his belt, with 100 centuries at the highest stage of the game.
Sachin also plays for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and has also captained the franchise in the past. Some of the cricket analysts in the world believe that franchise-cricket is a curse for the game and it is damaging the Test format, which should
always remain the priority for every cricketer.
However, Rhodes is of the opinion that IPL provides an opportunity to the younger players to play alongside some of the stars of the cricketing world. Rhodes, who is considered to be amongst the best fielders of all time, said that apart from cricketing
skills, the youngsters must learn the professional approach from seasoned campaigners.
"Guys like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chinnadupargea-Sachin-c50607 can't play forever and it's important that the young Indian players who come through the IPL are all-round players, not just in batting and bowling, as most of the Indian players are, but also as good fielders," said Rhodes.
The former South African cricketer believes that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 has a number of talented young players coming through the ranks of domestic cricket and they should be able to serve their country, once the senior cricketers decide to call it a day.
"They've got quite a few young Indian players and what I think the organizers are trying to do is to make sure that once the Tendulkars and the Harbhajans retire, the younger guys coming through will carry India," he added.
One of the major benefits of IPL for Indian cricket is the fact that the domestic players get exposure and get to handle the pressure of television and the crowd. This is the reason why Jonty thinks that the future of Indian cricket is in safe hands.
