Jordan Eberle announces to stage a charity golf tournament in Regina – Golf News
The inaugural staging of the Eberle & Friends Golf Classic at the Wascana Country Club is scheduled to be held on July 11 and 12, 2012.
According to Jordan Eberle, a star of the National Hockey League team, Edmonton Oilers, he never forgets the Western Hockey League’s Regina Pats that gave him a chance to shine in the sport.
That is the reason why he gave his name to the tournament that will benefit the Hospitals of Regina Foundation (HRF) in his hometown.
Pats’ President and Governor, Brent Parker, expressed his gratitude over Eberle’s return to the area and benefiting the local community.
He said that the charity golf tournament will be a great success while offering plenty of fun to the participants and the spectators coming to watch the event.
Don Wilson, the Volunteer Chair of the HRF’s board of directors, also showed his excitement on working with Eberle on the sacred cause.
“We are going to go above and beyond to make this event unique and successful and to raise as many dollars as we can for Regina’s hospitals,” he said.
Eberle believes that the tournament can be of great help to the local hospitals to bring smiles on the faces of children.
He told that how he, along with his friends and other teammates in Edmonton, spend time to cheer the children in the area with different activities.
“When you’re a role model in the community, you want to do what you can to help, so I jumped at the opportunity,” he said.
This is not the first time that he is engaging in a charitable work. He also spent some time with the Shooting Stars Foundation, a charity foundation headed by Mike Sillinger and Jamie Heward.
“They’re seen as role models in Regina, so I’ve always wanted to be a part of that and to follow their footsteps,” Eberle said. “Anytime I can go and raise money for a good foundation, I’m always happy to be there”.
As per the HRF officials, it has raised around $120 million since it was established in 1987 in order to enhance the healthcare conditions in Regina.
