Jordan Harrison grabs Men’s 400m freestyle gold – EnergyAustralia SC Championships
Jordan Harrison of Miami, QLD grabbed gold medal of the Men’s 400m freestyle on day three of the 2012 EnergyAustralia Short Course Championships at Challenge Stadium in Perth on Friday, September 14.
Harrison dictated terms to his opponents in the 16-lap freestyle event and outsmarted his opponents over the finishing blockade for gold medal. He faced strong contest from Jarrod Killey of Hunter, NSW, throughout the event but managed to edge him out over the finishing end for gold medal.
With his relentless efforts, Harrison proved his mettle for the title of the race by tapping the wall with a timing of 3 minutes and 43.69 seconds.
His gruelling form remained 0.16 seconds ahead of Killey, who followed him on the victory stand for second position by submitting an effort of 3 minutes and 43.85 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Mack Horton of Melbourne VIC, who suffered a loss of almost two body lengths from his preceding swimmer and touched the wall with an effort of 3 minutes and 45.71 seconds.
Fourth finest spot of the race was obtained by Matthew Levings of Miami, QLD, who was one body length away from his former finisher and touched the wall with a timing of 3 minutes and 46.52 seconds.
Levings was traced by Shane Asbury of Nunawading, who stayed two and a half body length slower from his foregoing finisher and hit the wall with a timing of 3 minutes and 48.98 seconds for fifth position.
Sixth spot of the event was followed by Luke Kerswell of Southside, who stayed 0.86 seconds slower from his former swimmer and clocked an effort of 3 minutes and 49.84 seconds.
Kerswell was chased by David Morgan of TSS Aquatics, who stayed four body lengths apart and tapped the wall with a timing of 3 minutes and 53.75 seconds for seventh place.
Morgan remained 0.38 seconds ahead of Andrew Cameron of Melbourne VIC, who occupied eighth position of the event by submitting a time of 3 minutes and 54.13 seconds.
Furthermore, Harrison was contented with his form in the 400m event and raked medal after the event.
