Jordan Smith pockets Women’s 400m IM gold – 2012 GSC Summer Invitational
Jordan N Smith of PA-FL pocketed gold medal of the Women’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) on closing day of the 2012 Gator Swim Club Summer Invitational in Gainesville, Florida on Tuesday June 5.
The 19-year-old Smith remained prominently ahead of her competitors from the start and tapped the finishing blockade for the title of the event. With her immaculate efforts, she faced no difficulty in overpowering her challengers and reached the podium for
gold medal.
She devastated hopes of her supporters in the distant IM event as she emerged on the finishing blockade by submitting a time of 4 minutes and 55.41 seconds.
Smith was chased by Rebecca L Rainer of Nova-NC, who remained 2.56 seconds apart and emerged on the finishing blockade for silver medal by reporting a time of 4 minutes and 57.97 seconds.
The silver medallist was chased by Casey L Francis of PCS-FG, who proved her eligibility for bronze medal of the discipline by clocking a time of 5 minutes and 00.92 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was secured by Taylor A Katz of SYS-FL, who remained 2.02 seconds apart and transpired on the finishing blockade with the timing of 5 minutes and 02.94 seconds.
Following that, Bethany J Leap of SYS-FL proved her mettle for fifth position of the discipline as she succeeded in overwhelming her following swimmer by posting a time of 5 minutes and 04.52 seconds.
She was followed by Ashley A Neidigh of BSS-FL, who ended her race in sixth best place by clocking a time of 5 minutes and 04.91 seconds.
Seventh position of the discipline was secured by Danielle F Valley of SYS-FL, who remained considerably slower from her and cruised her way towards the finishing end with the timing of 5 minutes and 07.32 seconds.
The 17-year-old Valley was chased by her teammate, Kate A Woolbright, who stayed almost five seconds behind and finished eighth with an effort of 5 minutes and 12.99 seconds.
In addition, the championship ended after the conclusion of all planned events while the position holders received medals for their accomplishments after the session.
