Jordan White earns Girls 200m butterfly gold: Day six – Australian Age Championships
Jordan White of Cranbrook earned gold medal of the Girls 200m butterfly in the age category of 17-18 Year Olds on day six of the 2012 Australian Age Championships at the Sleeman Sports Complex, Brisbane on Saturday, April 14.
The 18-year-old White lived up to the expectations of her supporters, as she showed no mercy to her following swimmers and settled on the victory stand for gold medal of the event.
Her alluring effort remained considerably ahead of her following swimmer as she clocked a time of 2 minutes and 13.35 seconds for the title of the event.
With her epic swim, she enjoyed an advantage of nearly two seconds over Mikka Sheridan of Chandler, who hit the finishing end for silver medal by touching the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 15.79 seconds.
Sheridan was chased by Leah Bird of Hunter, who stayed almost 0.90 seconds behind and touched the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 16.67 seconds for bronze medal.
The 18-year-old Bird was chased by Kaelyn Hann of Nudgee Brothers, who stayed nearly 1.50 seconds slower from her following swimmer and touched the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 18.11 seconds.
Following that, Hugo Morris of Woden snared the title of equivalent event in Boys category. The 17-year-old Morris stayed marginally ahead of his subsequent rival, David Morgan of TSS Aquatics and touched the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 59.59 seconds
for gold medal.
Morris was chased by Morgan, who stayed 0.25 seconds slower from his former finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 59.84 seconds for silver medal.
Morgan was followed by Brand Grochala of Liverpool, NSW, who stayed nearly four seconds slower from his preceding swimmer but managed to secure third position of the event by posting a time of 2 minutes and 03.19 seconds.
Grochala was chased by Ben Schreiner of Haileybury, who ended fourth with an effort of 2 minutes and 03.58 seconds.
Furthermore, the championship concluded after the completion of all planned events in Boys and Girls corner.
