Jordan White secures Women’s 200m backstroke gold – EnergyAustralia SC Championships
Jordan White of Cranbrook secured gold medal of the Women’s 200m backstroke on third day of the 2012 EnergyAustralia Short Course Championships at Challenge Stadium in Perth on Friday, September 14.
The 19-year-old White stifled hopes of her competitors in a ruthless manner as she went on a rampage in the playoff and secured the crown of the distant backstroke discipline.
With her astonishing efforts in the backstroke discipline, White remained prominent for gold medal throughout the race and sprinted her way towards the finishing end for gold medal by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 07.25 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Lauren Rettie of River City Rapid, who remained 0.52 seconds apart and transpired on the finishing blockade as second position holder by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 07.77 seconds.
Rettie was traced by Ellen Fullerton of Chandler, QLD, who stayed almost half a body length away from her foregoing finisher and settled on the medal rostrum for third position by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 08.20 seconds.
Fullerton was chased by her teammate, Mikka Sheridan, who remained almost one second slower from her and settled on the wall as fourth best finisher by posting a time of 2 minutes and 09.11 seconds.
Sheridan remained 1.21 seconds faster from Samantha Wilkins of Waterlions, who proved her eligibility for fifth position of the event by touching the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 10.32 seconds.
Subsequently, Wilkins was followed by Sian Whittaker of Surrey Park, VIC, who stayed 0.53 seconds apart and posted an effort of 2 minutes and 10.85 seconds for sixth position.
Seventh position of the race was obtained by Hayley White of Cranbrook, who stayed 0.15 seconds slower and touched the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 11.00 seconds.
Last position of the event was secured by Jackie Staples of Norwood, SA, who stayed 0.60 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and touched the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 11.60 seconds.
In addition, White received massive appreciation from the crowd for her notable efforts.
