Jordan Wilimovsky secures Men’s 1500m freestyle title – Speedo Junior National Championships
Jordan Wilimovsky of Team Santa Monica secured gold medal of the Men’s 1500m freestyle on day one of the 2012 Speedo Junior National Championships at Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis on Monday, August 13.
The 18-year-old Wilimovsky devastated hopes of his supporters in the 30-lap freestyle discipline and proved his eligibility for gold spot on the medal rostrum.
With his laudable efforts, he remained comfortably ahead of his opponents and touched the wall with a timing of 15 minutes and 23.01 seconds.
He was followed by David Heron of Mission Viejo Nadadores, who stayed nearly five seconds behind and settled on the finishing end as second position holder by producing a time of 15 minutes and 28.50 seconds.
Heron was traced by Clifford Goertemiller of Dayton Raiders, who remained nearly two seconds apart and touched the wall for bronze medal with a timing of 15 minutes and 30.39 seconds.
Afterwards, the crowd experienced exhausting efforts of Janardana Burns of Mission Viejo Nadadores, who stayed only 0.01 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and surfaced on the finishing blockade as fourth fastest swimmer by reporting a time of 15
minutes and 30.40 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was secured by Burns’ teammate, Nicholas Norman, who was 11.22 seconds away from his former finisher and settled on the wall with the timing of 15 minutes and 41.62 seconds.
The 15-year-old Norman was chased by Cameron Stitt of Tualatin Hills Swim Club, who stayed 2.44 seconds apart and finished sixth in the event by touching the wall with an effort of 15 minutes and 44.06 seconds.
Stitt was trailed by Scott Simmer of Team Santa Monica, who was 5.30 seconds apart and occupied seventh best place of the discipline by producing a time of 15 minutes and 49.36 seconds.
Simmer was chased by Logan Houck of Sandpipers of Nevada, who remained just one and a half body length behind and posted a time of 15 minutes and 51.05 seconds for eighth position.
In addition, Wilimovsky was delighted with his gold finish in the discipline and expressed that he would try to achieve the same at superior levels of sport.
