Jordan Wynn throwing in practice for Utah

Starting quarterback Jordan Wynn is set to start throwing again in practice this week for Utah. Wynn injured his thumb in the team’s season opener against Pittsburgh and has been out of the line-up for the
past two weeks.

Wynn was set to be the Utah starter for the duration of the season. However, the play of back-up quarterback Terrance Cain may have caused a change in plans for the now no. 13 Utah Utes.

Cain has been playing tremendous football, having won both of his starts. Winning against UNLV in week two and dominating New Mexico on Saturday. In the game against New Mexico Cain posted incredible numbers,
completing 20 of his 23 passes on the day. breaking the school record for completion percentage. In the same game Cain also managed to throw for three touchdowns and also managed to run one in.

The head coach of the Utes Kyle Whitingham said that he was not sure who would make the start against San Jose State next week, stating that he is going to wait and see how Wynn was throwing in practice before
he makes his final decision.

Complicating the process is the fact that Cain posted strong numbers against poor clubs. New Mexico has yet to earn a win this year and cannot be considered an equal opponent for a Top 25 team. Fortunately
for the Utes and Whittingham, they have several weeks before they meet one of the country's top teams. The first game the team has against a ranked side is versus number four TCU in early November, which is followed by a game at Notre Dame.

Wynn had an impressive game against Pitt before he was forced out due to injury. The sophomore threw for 283 yards, three touchdowns and one interception for a QB rating of 146. Either way Utah seems to have
more than one option at quarterback.
