Jordane Linhart and Isaac Springer conquer swimming events -
High School State Championships
Jordane Linhart of Ralston/Gross and Isaac Springer of Millard West dictated terms to their competitors and captured gold medals of Girls and Boys 100yard breaststroke respectively on second day of the Nebraska High School State Championships for Boys and
Girls in Lincoln on February 28.
Linhart remained dominant over her competitors and won gold medal of the discipline with an effort of 1 minute and 07.24 seconds. She was followed by Laura Miksch of Columbus, who was just 0.24 seconds slower and hit the wall with a timing of 1 minute and
07.48 seconds for silver medal.
The third spot of the race was secured by Sophia Nelson of Lincoln Southwest, as she transpired on the victory stand for bronze medal with the timing of 1 minute and 07.80 seconds.
Next was the Boys 100yard breaststroke, where Springer upset his challengers and snared gold medal of the discipline by posting 57.27 seconds. He stayed 1.02 seconds ahead of Millard South’s Neil Girmus, who completed his race in a time of 58.29 seconds.
Szymon Day of Creighton Prep appeared earned bronze medal of the race as she ended her sprint in a time of 59.28 seconds.
The third event of the session was Girls 400yard freestyle relay, where Millard West’s squad reached the podium for gold medal by clocking 3 minutes and 36.58 seconds. They remained comfortably ahead of Omaha Westside’s relay team, which clinched silver
medal of the discipline with an effort of 3 minutes and 39.09 seconds. Lincoln Southwest’s squad was the third in the event as they posted 3 minutes and 39.85 seconds.
The last event of the session was Boys 400yard freestyle relay, where Creighton Prep’s team proved their mettle and claimed gold medal with a timing of 3 minutes and 12.71 seconds. They were trailed by squads of Elkhorn/Elkhorn South and Lincoln East that
finished second and third with timings of 3:13.15 and 3:14.56 minutes, respectively.
In addition, the winners received awards and accolades for their immaculate efforts after the completion of session. Furthermore, the competition concluded after the completion of all planned events in Boys and Girls category.
