Jordy Clasie: Feyenoord Rotterdam can finish in the top five – Eredivisie news
Feyenoord Rotterdam’s Jordy Clasie believes that his side has the quality to finish the new season in the top five sides on the league table. The 20-year-old revealed that he wants to win prizes while representing De Stadionclub.
The promising youngster is a product of the Rotterdam giants’ youth academy and made his professional career debut for SBV Excelsior, as the youngster was loaned to the Kralingers on a season-long deal. The defensive midfielder played 32 matches and also
managed to find the back of the net on two occasions.
The 20-year-old expressed happiness after returning to his parent club ahead of the 2011/12 campaign and revealed that he feels ready for the challenge at De Kuip Stadion.
“It was nice to be with Excelsior, but I am extremely delighted to be back at Feyenoord. I feel ready and confident for the next step in my career and it is none other than my club”, Clasie said while talking to the media.
The promising young midfielder then went on to reveal that he believes that his side can finish in the top five Eredivisie sides in the upcoming season.
“I think we can finish in the top five sides. And then, I want to win prizes with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258. We have a good selection and talent, so why not think high. If we all play to our potential, we can certainly surprise many people this season”, Clasie added.
The Rotterdam giants had a disastrous 2010/11 campaign where they eventually managed to finish 10th on the table. The Stadiumclub recently appointed Ronald Koeman as their head coach for the upcoming season, following Mario Been’s decision to
step down from the managerial hot seat.
Feyenoord have been struggling to compete for the top spots for the last six years, but are aiming to finish in the top five Eredivisie sides in the upcoming season. The Rotterdam giants will take on SBV Excelsior in their 2011/12 season opening encounter
on Friday, August 5.
