Jordy Smith clinch the opening heat of round two of 2011 Billabong Rio Pro
The second round of the 2011 Billabong Rio Pro started in a stunning fashion with the most captivating performance of Jordy Smith (ZAF) in the first heat at Rio de Janeiro in Brazil today.
Smith clinched the opening heat with a score of 11.67 (out of 20), while Peterson Crisanto of Brazil was thrown out the championship with a scanty score of 7.10 in the respective heat at Arpoardor.
In the second heat, Bede Durbidge of Australia came first with a genuine score of 11.60, while Igor Morais of Brazil settled second with 10.17 points.
Meanwhile, the third heat was taken over by Michel Bourez (PYF) with a total score of 12.50 and Simao Romao of Brazil settled second with a score of 12.10.
“Simao surfs really well and he’s from here,” Bourez said. “It was hard for me to find the right waves out there. I finally got some good scores and made my heat. That was really heavy for me because we were really tight and he had the best score.”
Adriano de Souza won the fourth heat of the second round with the highest score of 16.43, whereas Ricardo Santos couldn’t be able to make his place into the third round with an average heat score of 12.66.
“It’s a good rebound after yesterday’s loss and I’m really stoked with my performance out there,” De Souza said. “I just tried to capitalize on Ricardo’s mistake in that heat and was really lucky to find two good waves out there.”
In the fifth heat of the second round, Joel Parkinson of Australia posted the highest heat score of 13.33, while Kai Otton was thrown out from the competition with a very little score of 11.77 out of 20.
Bobby Martinez of the US captured the sixth heat of the day with a sterling score of 12.77. On the other hand, Kieren Perrow of Australia won the seventh heat with a total score of 11.50.
The 8th heat was clinched by Josh Kerr of Australia with a score-line of 12.74, while Raoni Monteiro of Brazil grabbed the ninth heat with a mark of 12.53 at Rio de Janeiro today.
When it comes to the tenth heat of the second round, it was captured by C.J. Hobgood of the US with the highest heat score of 16.50. On the other side, Heitor Alves of Brazil notched the eleventh heat of the day with 12.44 points.
Last, but not the least, Adam Melling of Australia won the 12th heat with a sterling score of 15.00. Melling was immensely pleased and satisfied with his heat at Arpoardor in Brazil on Wednesday.
