Jorge Aguilar, Simone Vagnozzi cruise into second round – San Sebastian Challengers 2011
Chilean tennis pro Jorge Aguilar made it to the second round of 2011 International San Sebastian Challengers tournament with a comfortable 6-1, 3-0 victory over Spaniard Guillermo Olaso in San Sebastian, Spain.
Aguilar looked in superb form in his first match at the ITF tournament as he dominated all aspects of the game. Dropping only a game in the match, the 26-year-old earned a straight sets victory in match that lasted for only 42
minutes on the red clay courts of San Sebastian. Aguilar’s on-target and powerful serving played a huge role in his victory as he dominated all the rallies on his serve.
Aguilar, who was looking for a second round spot, started off very brightly as he pocketed his first service game with four consecutive points. Olaso also raised the level of his game play but he was unable to find a way to break
his opponent
Breaking the serve twice in the opener, Aguilar raced to a healthy 5-1 lead, serving for the set. Converting his next service game with ease, he took 1-0 lead in the set score. With his supreme agility on the court, the Chilean
made it all look very simple.
Ranked 232nd in the world, Aguilar Continued to play his natural game freely in the following set as well and he established complete control over the contest. Breaking his opponent two more times, he led the game score
3-0 in the set. However, Olaso, who seemed to be struggling with his left leg, decided to retire at that stage of the match, handing over an easy victory to his opponent.
The Spaniard produced too many unforced errors in pain and it must be said that he made the right choice under the circumstances. He will be hoping to recover soon and come back stronger on his next appearance on the tour.
Aguilar hit an impressive 54 per cent first serve and he converted more than 71 per cent of the points on his serve. Claiming more than 83 per cent of the points on his second serves as well, he left his opponent with a very few
choices. He will be looking to put up a similar show in his next match-up as well.
In another match at the ITF level tournament, Simone Vagnozzi of Italy humbled the French Laurent Rochette 6-1, ,6-1 to book his place in the second round.
Vagnozzi served with control and accuracy and he smashed his brutal forehand winners all over the court. Converting six out of six break points, he secured straight sets victory in match that lasted for fifty minutes.
