Jorge Arce scheduled to take on young Puerto Rican Jesus M Rojas in a non-title bout – Boxing news
Jorge Arce, the current WBO bantamweight champion, is not ready to hang his gloves at all and will take on in his upcoming bout the Puerto Rican surging lad Jesus M Rojas, in a 10-round non-title bout which will be held on June 9, 2012.
The duo will be a part of the high-profiled pay-per-view organised and promoted by Bob Arum of Top Rank Promotions. The HBO showdown is being headlined by the much hyped WBO welterweight title bout between Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley.
The Las Vegas fans will also witness Mike Jones take on Randall Bailey for the vacant IBF welterweight gold and the ring for the extravaganza will be set up at the famous MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, Unites States.
Arce, 32, is a Mexican veteran pugilist who has been in a whopping 68 bouts. Jorge boasts a pretty intimidating resume as he has emerged victorious in a total 60 bouts. Moreover, the orthodox brawler has collected a huge 46 wins by knocking the opponents
out cold.
Currently ranked as the World Boxing Organisation’s number three welterweight, Jorge is still in his prime and since his last loss to Simphiwe Nongqayi is on a nine-bout win streak.
Jorge recently grabbed the vacant WBO bantamweight title after nailing Angky Angkota via unanimous decision. In a recent media interaction Arce, also known as ‘Travieso’, commented that he is always ready to take on any pugilist in the world.
Arce stated, “Do not worry, I am always ready for a war, for a big fight. I’m motivated and I am very excited because I’m going to support a Manny Pacquiao card. I know Pacquiao’s fights are watched all over the world and that motivates me. I am ready to
go twelve rounds, I’m ready for a big fight. If Rojas comes well prepared, we’re definitely going to steal the show, but if he isn’t ready – we’ll go to dinner early.”
Jorge’s Saturday night opponent, Rojas, 25, has been in a total 20 bouts and boasts 18 wins. The Puerto Rican lad has nailed 13 of his opponents by knockout and possesses a pretty decent raw powered fist.
For the time being the odds are definitely in favour of Arce as he has experience and a whole lot of knockouts and wins in his resume. The only facet that might give Rojas a bit edge over Jorge is his speed and agility otherwise the orthodox Jesus will stand
no chance at all against the veteran pounder.
