Jorge Arce takes on inexperienced Jesus M Rojas in a non-title 10-round bout – Boxing news
Jorge Arce, the current WBO bantamweight champion, is all set and confident to take on his upcoming young Puerto Rican opponent, Jesus M Rojas, in a 10-round non-title bout which will be held on June 9, 2012.
The duo will take on each other on the fight card headlined by the much anticipated and hyped bout between Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley. The ring for the epic pay-per-view will be set up at MGM Grand Garden Arena situated in Las Vegas, Nevada, United
States.
The showdown will also witness Mike Jones take on Randall Bailey in a 12-round bout which will have the vacant IBF welterweight title up for grabs while constituting the co-headline bout.
Arce recently shared his view point and put forth his future plans in front of the media during a press conference and said that he is also thinking of taking on Orlando Salido in the 126-pound division but before that he will concentrate on taking on his
divisional top-ranked opponents.
Jorge, also known as the ‘Travieso’, is a veteran pugilist who has been in a total 68 bouts and boasts a huge 60 wins. His win ratio is ample proof of the fact that how much talented, resilient and classic brawler Arce is.
As far as the technicalities and stats are concerned, Jorge has a clear upper hand in each and every facet over young Jesus. Rojas, 25, is a surging young Puerto Rican for whom this bout can easily be dubbed as either ‘the toughest test of his career’ or
a ‘sheer nightmare’.
While keeping aside any comparisons, Rojas when analysed alone possesses a pretty impressive resume. The orthodox Puerto Rican lad has been in a total 20 bouts and emerged victorious in 18.
Jesus has nailed 13 opponents by knockout and as far as his position in the division is concerned, Rojas does possess an impressive fist with high levels of resilience. During the press conference, Jorge stated, “I feel great. I am very strong and fast for
this fight. I know I need to win this fight to keep my future plans going and that’s what he intends to do.”
Jorge put forth the media his future agenda and remarked, “I have some interesting fights out there at 122 against Nonito Donarie and Abner Mares, but I also want to fight for the world title at 126 pounds against Orlando Salido, but first thing first, beat
Rojas and see what is next.”
The odds are clearly in favour of Jorge who is on a five-bout win streak and recently nailed the decently experienced Lorenzo Parra. Jesus, on the other hand, needs to work hard as he has grabbed a draw decision in his last bout against heavily experienced
Jose Luis Araiza.
