Jorge Lorenzo attains 50th pole of his MotoGP career at Japanese Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Jorge Lorenzo of Yamaha Factory Racing attained the 50th pole of his career at the Motegi circuit in the Japanese Grand Prix.
He was followed by the Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa whereas the 3rd gird was attained by Cal Crutchlow of Monster Yamaha Tech3.
Lorenzo attained a stunning pole in the last few moments of the Japanese Grand Prix. The pole was not only the 50th of his career but it was also a new record at Motegi circuit. His teammate, Ben Spies, attained the 4th grid position however he faced an
awkward accident in his last lap of the circuit. The accident happened due to a mistake from the Australian rider when he was trying to push hard with his Yamaha machine.
Strength was no match against the strategy of Pedrosa because although the Honda rider had an impressive speed of 306.9 km/h yet he could not attain the pole. His teammate, Casey Stoner, recovering from the accident, managed attaining the 7th grid position
for the Japanese race.
Cal Crutchlow attained the 3rd grid of the Japanese GP whereas his teammate Alvaro Bautista, even after proving strength in the first two practice sessions of the Japanese GP, could not attain anything more than the 6th position.
The San Carlo Honda Gresini rider, Alvaro Bautista followed Ben Spies at the 5th position. The Ducati riders even after introducing updates to their machines could not attain anything better than 9th and 10th grid, Valentino Rossi being 9th. The strength
they had depicted earlier gave hope that they will manage to achieve something impressive by the race however they could not improve their speed until the qualifying round. The top speed achieved by the Ducati machine was only 302.6 km/h.
The Ducati riders completed the top 10 grid positions for the grid. The question still remains whether strength gets edged by the strategy of Lorenzo or not. In the Aragon Grand Prix it was witnessed that the Championship leader had the pole for the race
yet he was not able to win the race. Lorenzo has earlier admitted that Honda machine is doing great currently.
Let’s see who wins at the Japanese circuit.
