Jorge Lorenzo believes they are competitive and have chances to win further races – MotoGP news
Jorge Lorenzo of Yamaha Factory Racing finished the Japanese Grand Prix at the 2nd position despite starting from the pole position.
Meanwhile, his teammate Ben Spies is frustrated due to lack of control with his bike and told that they knew that brakes could be a problematic area but he did not expect the issue to arise in the 2nd lap of the Japanese GP.
Lorenzo was unable to win the Japanese GP although he was leading the race until about the middle of the race. He told that he tried his best to stay with Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda but they had questionable performance of their bike on straights and the
Honda rider was also riding impressively.
The championship leader said, “I was completely at the maximum trying to stay with Dani but today we had such different performance on the straights and he was also riding really well. I tried to stay with him but it was impossible, maybe next time it will
be different.”
He believes that he will be able to beat the Honda rider in the next grand prix. He added that championship is approaching its end yet he believes that they have chances to win more races.
Spies lost control over his bike in the second lap of the Japanese Grand Prix and collided against a side board. He told that he is frustrated with his performance at the Motegi circuit because they knew that brakes could have caused problems but they did
not expect that it will happen in the second lap of the race.
Spies said, “I’m incredibly frustrated with today’s result. We’ve known all weekend that the brakes could be an issue due to the tough nature of the track but I did not expect to have trouble on the second lap.”
Furthermore, he told that their team have worked well and they have been able to depict podium taking pace with their bike therefore they did not deserve this result over the Japanese GP. Spies looks forward to the next Malaysian Grand Prix scheduled on
October 21, 2012.
Let’s see how the Yamaha riders perform at the upcoming Malaysian GP.
