Jorge Lorenzo delivers in Brno as second half Of MotoGP resumes
Jorge Lorenzo, the FIAT Yamaha rider, emerged victorious at the Cardion ab Grand Prix Czech Republic, in Brno. This was his seventh victory of the season, out of ten races so far, giving him a healthy lead of 77 points on top of the standings.
The weather was not good throughout the weekend, but for once the sun was shining over Brno during the MotoGP race. Dani Pedrosa started from pole position, while Jorge Lorenzo was in third spot. However, initial battle for lead was fought between Pedrosa and Lorenzo, the latter starting from third position on the grid. The battle was enjoyed by over 148,000 fans, who gathered in Brno for an exceptional day of MotoGP racing.
Although, Lorenzo had a little accident towards the end of qualifying session, but he was able to stay away from any kind of trouble during the race, as he was able to convert his first row start into another victory. Also, he was able to maintain his record of finishing in first two places, in all the races so far. His tenth result of this season enabled him to equalize a 62 years old record. Also, he got maximum points from the race, increasing his lead by 77 points now.
There were quite a few falls in Brno, during the qualifying session. Two of the riders, Loris Capirossi and Andrea Dovizioso, fell early in the race. However, Dovizioso managed to stay away from other bikes, despite falling amidst a crowded section of race. The Rapsol Honda rider managed to rejoin the race but he had to retire after a few more laps, as his bike seemed to be troubling him a little bit.
The best riders were, once again, Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo. Both these riders remained unchallenged, as they battled for first position for most part of grand prix. During the early part, these riders were continuously putting fastest lap times, while no one else was able to come close. However, even Pedrosa could not challenge Lorenzo for long, as he started to pull away from his fellow Spaniard’s Rapsol Honda machine.
Towards the end of race, Lorenzo got further away from rest of the field, as he finished the race with a difference of more than 5 seconds over Dani Pedrosa. This seventh victory led Lorenzo to increase his lead by 77 points over Pedrosa. On the other hand, Pedrosa was contented with a second place finish. However, Jorge Lorenzo has been cruising his way through the championships, due to which the chase has begun to get tougher for Pedrosa.
Casey Stoner had his problems in the qualifying session; however, he did manage to pull through towards the end, by getting a fourth place in the grid. The race was further improvement for the Australian, who managed to get a third place from his fourth place start. He was more than six seconds behind the leader, but, nevertheless the result was great for the Ducati rider, who was again having problems with his machine.
Ben Spies started the race from second position on the grid. Although, he was overtaken by Jorge Lorenzo and Casey Stoner, however he had a great race overall. He finished in fourth place, ahead of the Italian, Valentino Rossi. The difference between both riders was over four seconds, which was a great result for the American rookie. Nicky Hayden and Colin Edwards got a sixth and seventh place, while Marco Melandri got eighth place. The top ten was completed by Hector Barbera and Randy De Puniet, the latter coming back after a long injury.
After this grand prix, there have been slight changes, as Stoner has passed Dovizioso for a third place in standings. Dovizioso, unfortunately, was unable to finish the race.
