Jorge Lorenzo feels relaxed after his first DNF of 2011 season at Silverstone – MotoGP news
Yamaha Factory Racing rider Jorge Lorenzo has revealed his contentment about getting his first ‘did not finish’ status of the 2011 MotoGP season at the recently held British GP.
Lorenzo feels a bit relaxed after Casey Stoner went into the championship lead following the Silverstone event.
The Spaniard expressed his views via a statement titled ‘After 25 races.’ He shared his words to his fans about the DNF, which he considers a blessing in disguise for his preparations for the upcoming Assen GP.
Lorenzo said, “Within two weeks we’ll be at Assen, my favourite circuit, where I won last year and the house of my Team manager Wilco Zeelenberg is. It will be a very special race for Yamaha, now celebrating 50 years in the racing world. I’ll wear the classic
red and white colours that I hope will bring us luck. I can’t wait to see everything that the factory has prepared. See you at the Cathedral!”
Lorenzo discussed his run of 25 races in which he finished in top four spots. The British GP accident meant an end to his streak of successfully finished races. He said he felt that it has been long time since he experienced a similar situation, recalling
the Australian Grand Prix of 2009. Racing at the wet Silverstone, Lorenzo was focused to fight for victory. He also felt that the bike was improving even in wet conditions.
The Spaniard regretted the incident and the situation his team faced. He felt sorry for his fan club members, who attended the race despite of rain. He further said that the he will try again and succeed at any cost for the championship. Lorenzo said the
season was just six rounds old and plenty of races were still left for him to fight back.
The Spaniard got lucky in the accident as he escaped any major injury. He was thankful to Alpinestars’ leather airbags. The protective leather suit saved Lorenzo from any physical injury. The Spaniard has been using this suit for almost three seasons and
it helps him to ride more confidently and focus on the race in a much better way.
Lorenzo has also announced that he will definitely race for a win at the seventh round of the season, the Iveco TT Assen Grand Prix.
Although Lorenzo is 18 points adrift of Stoner but he will fight to regain the lead. His teammate Ben Spies is also confident for a podium finish as he performed well in the wet Silverstone.
