Jorge Lorenzo leads the points table ahead of the French Grand Prix - MotoGP Update
Jorge Lorenzo leads Dani Pedrosa on points ahead of the fourth full action event of the 2011 MotoGP calendar, the Monster Energy Grand Prix de France to be held on the Le Mans circuit on May 15.
The current MotoGP season has effectively delivered the on-track action to their fans and shown the race rivalry between the stars of the premier class. The young season is looking to deliver on a close battle for the world championship title.
The tale will continue this weekend at the French GP on the legendary Le Mans track. The Spaniard rider for Yamaha Factory Racing, Jorge Lorenzo is leading the points chart with four points more than compatriot Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda team, with three
rounds of the 2011 season complete.
Lorenzo will be preparing for his 150th Grand Prix start in the French GP. With his mile-stone start, Lorenzo will be claiming to be the youngest rider to hold the title which was previously held by Pedrosa. Yamaha Factory rider, Lorenzo has also
won last season’s Le Mans event. He is now alert after the trick that was played by Pedrosa in the last race and he knows that his Repsol Honda competitor is fully prepared. Both countrymen share the same status with 36 race wins in Grand Prix career.
Repsol Honda team-mate, Casey Stoner is 20 points apart from Pedrosa after three rounds, with a ‘did not finish status’ in the second event held in Spain at the Jerez circuit. Stoner had a third place finish in the previous Portuguese round and he will gather
his effort to score a podium place at the French GP which can be his second ever rostrum at the circuit in all classes.
Valentino Rossi who has three victories at the Le Mans circuit in his premier class with a total of seven podium finishes. Rossi will be seen struggling for his first rostrum with the Ducati GP team, where the Italian manufacturer has not won a single MotoGP
race.
Rossi’s Ducati team-mate Nicky Hayden is tied with Repsol Honda’s Andrea Dovizioso in the championship points table. Dovizioso and Hayden finished at third and fourth places in last season’s Le Mans event, respectively.
It will be interesting to see how Yamaha’s Lorenzo competes with Repsol Honda’s Pedrosa at the upcoming French Grand Prix at the Le Mans circuit. Ducati’s Rossi and Hayden will also be looking to put in a strong performance during this weekend’s race. The
riders are separated by very few points in the table which will make for an exciting race and build-up for the rest of the season.
