Jorge Lorenzo looking forward to score maiden win at Sachsenring, Germany – MotoGP news
Jorge Lorenzo of Yamaha Factory Racing team is keen and motivated to score his first ever victory at the upcoming Sachsenring event of the 2011 MotoGP calendar.
Germany will host the MotoGP season’s ninth event, the eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland.
Lorenzo has been racing at the German track since 2002 but unfortunately, he has not scored a single win at the venue. The only podium positions to his credit are second place finishes in 2009 and 2010.
Factory Yamaha rider said, “I feel very good after our victory in Mugello; an amazing victory that we needed for our confidence. We'll take more power from it for future races, especially for the next two in a row. Now it's time for Germany; Sachsenring
is a unique track which I've ridden since 2002 and still not won! I would like to do it, it's an interesting challenge in front my German fans.”
The Spaniard has been exceptionally successful in the last event held at Mugello, Italy. Lorenzo was in pursuit of the Repsol Honda duo, Casey Stoner and Andrea Dovizioso. However, the last few laps turned the luck in Lorenzo’s favour and he overtook them
to cross the finish line. He also ended Casey Stoner’s winning streak of four.
The Spanish Yamaha rider is amazed and highly spirited after his win at Mugello. Lorenzo’s win has shown that the Yamaha M1 is still competitive to take the lead in the championship. Though Stoner’s world championship lead has been reduced to 19 points but
still the Yamaha factory team will try hard to re-seat Lorenzo on top of the table.
Yamaha Team Manager Wilco Zeelenberg said, “When we are able to deliver a great package like in Italy, then Jorge is able to fight for victory. That is our target again in Sachsenring and Laguna.”
Zeelenberg further added that the forthcoming two events are crucial for the team. He sounded positive for the season ahead saying that it is only the mid of the season and with a number of races ahead, the lead can change at any point.
