Jorge Lorenzo of Yamaha Factory Racing finishes US Grand Prix in second place – MotoGP news
Jorge Lorenzo was able to finish second in the United States Grand Prix last weekend, thus widening the championship lead.
Lorenzo lost his leading, first place in the 22nd lap of the grand prix to Casey Stoner of Repsol Honda team. He said that he tried his best to create a considerable leading gap and was eventually able to create it but then in the corkscrew it
was difficult to handle the bike.
Furthermore, he said that he almost fell in corkscrew and this gave Stoner a chance to take the lead which later proved to be unassailable.
Laguna Seca witnessed some considerable crashes however none of the riders faced any seirous injuries.
Lorenzo said, “I tried my best the beginning to open a gap and I managed it but then in the corkscrew I almost crashed. For Casey maybe that was a motivation and he caught me in one lap.”
Lorenzo further said that perhaps soft tyres were the best option for the circuit because he was unable to attain the speed which he was enjoying before the incident.
“After that I couldn’t keep the pace I had in the beginning, maybe the soft tyre was the best option for this race,” he added.
Moreover, the Spaniard said that the Australian rider has shown a convincing performance last day and it was not possible to beat him.
He said, “Without a doubt Casey was riding in an excellent form today and it wasn’t possible to beat him.”
Jorge Lorenzo now leads the championship by 205 being followed by Dani Pedrosa, 23 points behind. He was able to finish the race 3.429 seconds after Stoner who took 43 minutes and 45.961 seconds to cross the finish line.
