Jorge Lorenzo says Casey Stoner is much stronger than he was in Japan – MotoGP news
Jorge Lorenzo of Yamaha Factory Racing believes that Casey Stoner of Repsol Honda is much stronger than he was at Japanese Grand Prix in terms of performance.
He enjoyed the free practice 1 session at the Malaysian circuit but they were unable to participate in the free practice 2 session due to bad weather as there were heavy showers.
Lorenzo registered the 3rd fastest lap at the Sepang circuit whereas the 2nd place was attained by Stoner during FP1. He told that he liked the FP1 because he was able to attain same pace as the Honda riders, Dani Pedrosa and Stoner. He has been suffering
from the speed issues since the last few races as his Yamaha machine is lacking pace in comparison to the Honda machine.
He said, “This morning was great, from the beginning I was competitive and more or less at the same pace as Dani and Casey. Casey especially is much stronger than he was in Japan.”
In addition, the Yamaha rider told that they need to improve the behaviour of their Yamaha machine in terms of acceleration. He added that it is getting a little nervous therefore they need to make it easier.
“This afternoon unfortunately we couldn’t practice because of the weather. We need to improve the behaviour of the bike in acceleration for tomorrow, it’s a little nervous so we need to make it a little easier,” he added.
Lorenzo faced a considerable opposition from Stoner as he finished at the 2nd position in the FP1 of Malaysian GP. The situation went problematic because he has secured his championship title only if he manages to finish at least at the 2nd position. If
he is unable to finish at least at the 2nd position he will further lose 4 additional points to Pedrosa, if Pedrosa wins the race.
Lorenzo seems positive about the remaining 3 races and says that he will try to achieve his best. On the other hand, Pedrosa says he is enjoying his riding and will only be concentrating over his own race.
Let’s see how the championship leader manages in the last three races of the season.
