Jorge Lorenzo says Dani Pedrosa had bad luck at Misano – MotoGP news
Jorge Lorenzo of Yamaha Factory Racing believes that the strongest title contender Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda had bad luck at the Italian circuit.
However, he believes that they should celebrate their victory.
Lorenzo accepted that they were close in the qualifying round and the warm up but Pedrosa had a bad luck during the race. He believes that this is same as they were unlucky at Holland and were unable to finish the Netherland Grand Prix.
Lorenzo said, “It’s been a very tough weekend because Dani and I have been very close in the qualifying and the warm up. Unfortunately today he had really bad luck, first with the lights at the beginning of the race and then Héctor [Barberá] took him out.
This was really unfortunate for him. In Holland we were unlucky and today he was unlucky, anything can happen in these races.”
The Spanish rider further believes that they should celebrate their victory in the Italian GP and the substantial advantage they have gained in the championship. Due to high weather the bikes suffered from decreased grip therefore the race was challenging
for everyone.
Additionally, he said that making it in the qualifying round is not enough because one has to set up the chassis and electronics for the race as well. He added that he almost crashed at turn 1 but he managed to pass safely. Besides, he said that anything
can happen during the races.
“It was hotter during the race so there was less grip too. I almost crashed in turn one but managed to save it too!” the championship leader said.
Lorenzo won the Italian GP after finishing three consecutive grands prix as runner up. In the qualifying round, the fastest speed achieved by the Honda rider was 289.4 km/h whereas the Yamaha machine was only able to make it to 284.1 km/h.
The win at the Italian GP leaves Lorenzo with a lead of 38 championship points resulting in more satisfaction for the championship leader. Lorenzo currently attains 270 championship points.
Let’s see how the championship leader sustains his championship lead in the current 2012 season.
