Jorge Lorenzo says he had bad feeling with the new rear tyres on the corners – MotoGP news
Jorge Lorenzo of Yamaha Factory Racing tested the new rear tyres offered by Bridgestone during the second day of private tests at Aragon.
He did not feel the new tyres to be better than the old tyres. The Spanish rider is happy with their achievement during the test, as they were faster during the test.
The Spaniard had a busy day at Aragon which left him tired after the session. By the end of the session they completed a race simulation which would help them to better understand the new rear tyres, introduced by Bridgestone for testing purposes.
Lorenzo said, “Today was a very long day. We did a race simulation at the end of the session of 22 laps. Now I feel very tired, but it was necessary to see the performance of the special rear tyre.”
The Yamaha rider preferred the old tyres, he used during the two day privately conducted test session, over the newly introduced tyres. He did not feel very comfortable with the test tyres in the corners and also experienced some chattering issues during
the test.
The championship leader said, “I think the rear tyre was a little bit worse than the ones I tried across the two days. Something was wrong, because I had much more chattering and a bad feeling on the corners. But in general we’re leaving the track with happiness
and confidence, because we are one second faster than the last time.”
He added that he is happy overall because they have successfully been able to gain a second by being faster.
Yamaha had been testing the new 2013 chassis and engine. Last day he was not faster than Dani Pedrosa of Repsol and was the second fastest rider over the private test session, however in the second day of test he was the fastest rider and finished his fastest
lap in 1 minute and 48.244 seconds. His fastest lap time is still more than the time of Pedrosa registered yesterday as the Honda rider completed his fastest lap of the private test session in 1 minute and 47.983 seconds.
Lets see how the improvements turn out to be for Yamaha in the following 2013 season.
