Jorge Lorenzo says they need to work on the pace of their bike – MotoGP news
Jorge Lorenzo of Yamaha Factory Racing believes that they need to improve the pace of their bike however it seems satisfactory to them.
He attained the pole at the Malaysian Grand Prix setting a new record at the Sepang circuit.
The championship leader completed an impressive lap in the last few minutes of the Malaysian GP. He told that they were struggling in the midst of the race due to the chattering and the rear tyre was also creating issues.
Lorenzo said, “We made a very good lap at the end of the session with the new ‘qualifying’ tyre. In the middle of the practice we struggled a little bit because we had a bit of chattering and the rear tyre wasn’t working as well as it had been in the morning
session.”
He believes that they need to work at their pace although it seems satisfactory. He told that they have some options for the race and anticipates that the upcoming race at the Malaysian circuit will be difficult and challenging as well. The layout of the
Malaysian circuit is challenging and several riders had lack of control with the rear tyre of their bike.
“We need to still work a little on our pace as it’s not extremely good yet but we have some options for tomorrow. Let’s see what happens, it’s going to be a long race in difficult conditions,” he added.
Lorenzo attains the championship lead for the current season however the season seems changing because his Honda opponents have been able to generate remarkable performances over the circuit. The return of Casey Stoner of Repsol Honda has resulted in capturing
interest in the sport because he has been able to finish the last two races among the top 5 riders.
If Stoner manages to finish at the 2nd position during the remaining three races dropping Lorenzo to 3rd position he can create an unanticipated ending to the current 2012 season because in that case Pedrosa will have very strong chances of winning the championship.
Let’s see how the championship leader manages in the last 3 races of the current season.
