Jorge Lorenzo sets a new lap record attaining pole position at the Sepang circuit – MotoGP news
Jorge Lorenzo of Yamaha Factory Racing registered the fastest ever lap at the Sepang circuit attaining pole position for the Malaysian Grand Prix.
The new fastest lap record for the Malaysian GP is registered in 2 minutes and 0.334 seconds.
Lorenzo once again exhibited convincing performance at the Malaysian circuit by attaining the pole position for the Malaysian Grand Prix. Attaining the pole was not the only reap for his efforts rather it included new fastest lap record. The previous record
was registered by Valentino Rossi in 2009 with the same Yamaha bike by completing the lap in 2 minutes and 0.518 seconds. The record was registered in the last few minutes of the qualifying round. The other Yamaha rider, Ben Spies, could only attain the 6th
gird for the Malaysian GP.
The second fastest lap of the day was registered by Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda after having lead over all other riders for a very long time. He completed his fastest lap in 2 minutes and 0.528 seconds. The finish of the qualifying round is identical to
the last few races of the sport when Lorenzo attained the pole in last few moments.
Andrea Dovizioso of Monster Yamaha Tech3 impressed spectators with his riding. He completed his fastest lap in 2 minutes and 0.567 seconds. It is expected that he will be giving a tough time to Lorenzo and Pedrosa during the race on Sunday. His teammate,
Cal Crutchlow could only make it to the 5th position in the race.
Casey Stoner, teammate of Pedrosa, attained the 4th position on the grid. He is the fourth person who has exhibited strength after his return to the sport and can generate unexpected results during the race.
Valentino Rossi was unable to make it among the top ten riders of the race. He managed finishing at the 11th position. He completed his fastest lap in 2 minutes and 1.783 seconds. He could not exhibit impressive performance despite having a competitive speed
of 322.8 km/h.
