Jorge Lorenzo still committed to Yamaha factory team – MotoGP news
The reigning World Champion and leader on the MotoGP points chart Jorge Lorenzo is completely faithful with the Yamaha factory team.
Still after the dominating winter test sessions given by the outrageous performance of Honda, and the gain it had by the end of the 2010 season, Lorenzo still cannot think of leaving Yamaha.
The Spaniard made a second place finish at the season opener round in Qatar, Losail circuit and swept the second race of the season, Gran Premio bwin de Espana, followed by one of the dominating Repsol Honda riders, Dani Pedrosa at second and Ducati
factory rider Nicky Hayden in third place.
The Yamaha Factory rider Jorge Lorenzo, after just two rounds down of the season, is leading the world championship at the moment. It was due to the potential of Lorenzo who pushed his M1 to the limits of performance.
The Spanish rider ran just perfect enough to keep him out of any incidents as other riders were victimised by either wet track conditions or lack of fitness.
But it seems Yamaha rider Lorenzo is making his mark to lead the full season, as he gave a second place finish at the Qatar Grand Prix, being the only non-Honda rider in the top-five positions and came out as a winner after a devastating, accident-filled
Grand Prix of Spain.
“In the past few years, Yamaha has proved to be among the top MotoGP teams and now it is time to work stronger to keep our privileged position,” said Lorenzo.
Lorenzo was called to be the unofficial team leader at the Yamaha garages, after Rossi’s shift to Ducati for the 2011 season. Like Ben Spies, Lorenzo is also starving for more powerful Yamaha engines to overcome Honda’s dominancy.
“My bike is very good, I feel very comfortable on it,” he declared. “This is my fourth season in Yamaha and I can't imagine racing for a different team. This year, for the first time, I will also be developing the bike and it is a different challenge
for me.”
Still the handling characteristics of M1 are strong and Lorenzo who has a contract with Yamaha Factory Racing until 2012 does not have to worry for a new racing team.
