Jorge Lorenzo widens his championship lead by winning the Italian Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Jorge Lorenzo of Yamaha Factory Racing won the Italian Grand Prix at the Misano circuit after Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda crashed in the very first lap of the race, while Valentino Rossi ended the race as runner-up.
The race was reduced to 27 laps due to an additional sighting lap. Pedrosa also had to start from the last position of the race, prior to the incident.
Dani Pedrosa who had the pole position for the race faced an incident in the first lap of the race with the front wheel of Hector Barbera of Pramac Racing team. In the first few laps of the race, Karel Abraham of Cardion AB Motoracing, Speed Master’s Mattia
Pasini and Cal Crutchlow of Monster Yamaha Tech3 also crashed out while Aleix Espargaro was the sixth rider who was not classified in the race.
Lorenzo completed his 27 laps in 42 minutes and 49.836 seconds. The other impressive performance over the Italian circuit was of Valentino Rossi, of Ducati. He managed to finish at the second place on the podium for the second in the current 2012 season.
His efforts with the improvements with his bike resulted in his impressive performance over the circuit. It was his last race at his home circuit with Ducati as he will be joining Yamaha for the next season.
The third place on the rostrum was occupied by Alvaro Bautista of San Carlo Honda Gresini after a lot of effort as he had to fight his position with Andrea Dovizioso of Monster Yamaha Tech3 and Stefan Bradl of LCR Honda MotoGP.
The rider waiting for an end to his bad luck finally made it to the fifth position in the Italian Grand Prix, he was followed by Bradl at the sixth position. The Ducati rider, Nicky Hayden, recovering from his injury finished the race at the 7th
position.
The Italian GP supported the Spanish rider and he was able to add an impressive 25 points to his 13 points championship lead to Pedrosa, making it to 270 points whereas Pedrosa currently attains 232 championship points.
Let’s see how the Honda rider tries to decrease the gap and make it to the leading championship position in the current 2012 season.
