The former Real Madrid manager was full of praise of La Blaugrana and claimed that he has never seen any team play the quality football exhibited by Pep Guardiola’s charges.
With Real Madrid winning the 2011/12 La Liga title, former manager Jorge Valdano, talked to press reporters regarding the matters concerning Spanish topflight football.
The retired Argentine international claimed that despite Real Madrid’s success in the domestic competition, he believes Barcelona are still miles ahead of them. However, he took out time to praise Jose Mourinho for his team’s exceptional title success.
He added that calling La Blaugrana better than Los Blancos is a taboo in Madrid, a fact that Madridista deny as they cannot realize the fact.
“Since I started watching football, I have seen nothing like this Barcelona that displays talent, generosity and hierarchy. They have a lot of continuity and a high level of pragmatism.”
The 56-year-old praised the manner in which the Catalan club have made their identity with their entertaining possession oriented footballing philosophy.
“Barca always play the same way and all Guardiola variations were in the midst of success," he mused.
The former coach and general manager of Real Madrid was taken aback by their league success, stating that the attitude shown by Los Meringues has rarely been seen before.
Valdano claimed that the Capital club are distinctly different from their Catalan cousins. He highlighted the enormity of resources available to Jose Mourinho at the Santiago Bernabeu but believes it should not take any credit away from the players.

The Argentine’s vacated position was taken by Zinedine Zidane with Mourinho enjoying more freedom in first team affairs.
The Portuguese manager contract with Real Madrid ends in 2014, winning Copa del Rey and La Liga in his two year spell in the Spanish capital.
