Joris De Loore, Tristan Lamasine qualify for the second round of Boys’ Singles – French Open 2011
Joris De Loore beats Mick Lescure 6-2, 7-5
Belgian Joris De Loore prevailed over Mick Lescure of France in straight sets 6-2, 7-5 in the first round of boys’ singles at French Open in Paris on Monday. De Loore took an hour and 26 minutes to undo his opponent.
The Belgian broke Lescure in the third and fifth game of the opening set to claim it 6-2. De Loore fired four aces and 50 percent of the first serves in the opening set, clinching an incredible 92 percent of the points on them.
On the other hand, Lescure hit 50 percent of the first deliveries and converted 76 percent of them into points in the first set. The French failed to save both break points he faced in the opening set.
After losing a one sided first set, Lescure came back, breaking De Loore in the opening game and holding his serve in the next game to take a 2-0 lead. However, the Belgian was quick to respond as he won two successive games, levelling
the score at 2-2. Lescure broke again in the ninth game to go ahead 5-4 but failed to serve out the set, squaring off the score at 5-5. After that, De Loore clinched two consecutive games, winning the set 7-5. The Belgian could not save two of the six break
points he faced but compensated that by converting three of the four break points on Lescure’s serve in the second set.
The 18-year-old will take on Axel Alvarez Llamas of Spain in the second round.
Tristan Lamasine defeats Diego Hidalgo 7-6(7), 6-4
Tristan Lamasine of France dismissed Diego Hidalgo of Ecuador in straight sets 7-6(7), 6-4 to advance to the second round. The match lasted for an hour and 52 minutes.
The opening set went with serve throughout the first twelve games, levelling the score at 6-6 to force a tie-break. Lamasine earned a late mini-break in the tie-break to claim it 9-7. The French hit two aces and kept his first
serve percentage at 67 percent in the first set, converting 81 percent of the first serves into points. The 18-year-old won 31 percent of the receiving points in the opening set.
In the second set, Lamasine needed a single mini-break to capture the set 6-4. The French served superbly as he delivered seven aces and 79 percent of the first serves, clinching 74 percent of the points on them in the second set.
On the other hand, Hidalgo had a first serve percentage of 63 percent, winning 75 percent of the points on the first serve. Lamasine capitalised on one of the six break point opportunities he created and saved the only break point on his own serve in the second
set.
The French is slated to play second seed Hudo Dellien of Bolivia in the second round.
