Sevilla president Jose Maria de Nido will not give up on his plight for equal sharing of televising revenues. The supremo chaired the meeting between club representative and LFP and called for action in this regard.
After the recent meeting held on Monday at the headquarters of the Football League (LFP) in Madrid, Del Nido said that most clubs are in "overwhelming" favour of more equitable distribution of television rights.
The meeting was convened by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 and Atletico Madrid at the headquarters of the LFP in the Spanish capital. It was extended for more than four hours on the day and had the presence of "a significant number of presidents," or a representative from each
club.
In this session, the lawyer insisted that the huge turnout is a clear indication that there is a need to continue working on this platform to provide LFP with new proposals. He said that reorganization is a must to keep professional football in check, especially
for the future.
He also stated that "the rights of the Second Division should not only be respected, but protected.” Del Nido wants to bring forward this issue in the near future on the same prognosis.
"We talked about the responsibilities that the league should have ... We will continue discussing these issues," he said.
This topic was taken up Jesus Nuno, the representative of Malaga, who elaborated his club’s stance.
“The top flight clubs believe that there are a number of specific problems in the First Division, as there are in the second" so "it is logical that a forum is made,” explained Jesus http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nuno-c28232.
Nuno continued on this and stated that the intent of the meeting was not to reach an agreement but to "expose the position each club has on major issues affecting the league" with regards to television rights.
He said that they understood the position of Real Madrid and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 who are right in their own perspective. However, they should be willing to discuss perspectives of the rest of the group.
"It is true that their position on television rights is very strong,” Nuno added.
Rayo Vallecano president, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-c30652 Martin Dam, agreed with the Malaga representative to clarify the reason behind holding the meeting. He affirmed that it was nothing more than to talk about potential problems and their respective solutions.
The debate is set to continue as La Liga clubs look for more parity in television revenues.
