http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jos-Buttler-c1733 keeps faith in depleted Somerset squad – Cricket News Update
The hard-hitting Somerset batsman, Jos Buttler, is confident his side can continue doing well with a depleted squad, which is without the likes of skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Marcus-Trescothick-c1898 and Craig Kieswetter.
“It's a game of momentum – once you get that winning habit, you need to keep it going,” said the 21-year-old right-handed batsman, who played a match-winning knock of 58 not out against the Northants at home, on Sunday.
"We've got a few people missing and we're going to have to use the squad, but we've still got some really experienced guys here,” he added further.
Somerset’s 2012 Friends Life T20 campaign got off to a victorious start with the club winning two out of the three games played so far after losing the 2nd fixture to rain.
However, they will be without six of their frontline players in their next two Flt20 fixtures against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Glamorgan-c784 Gladiators
(at Taunton on June 22).
The players who will miss Somerset’s next two encounters include skipper Marcus Trescothick, experienced England one-day cricketer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JA-Morkel-c1613, and Ireland’s Kevin
O'Brien and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/George-Dockrell-c59135.
Trescothick is still recovering from the surgery he underwent in late April for a ruptured
tendon in his right ankle, while wicketkeeper batsman Craig Kieswetter is on England duty, facing the West Indians in ODI and T20 series at home.
South African imports, Richard Levi and Albie Morkel both are in Zimbabwe, playing for the Proteas in an unofficial triangular T20 series, which also features hosts http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747, while Ireland’s Kevin O’Brien and George Dockrell both have flown
home, to play in Saturday’s one-off One Day International against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, at Stormont.
Buttler admitted that the missing players were valuable to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Somerset-c843 and the club would definitely look forward their return;
however, he said that they have boys in the team who could step up and make contributions in the absence of key players.
"We're looking forward to Levi, Morkel and the other guys coming back, because they are top performers, but we've got guys who can step in and make contributions,” said the right-hander, who has also been included in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013’s squad for the one-off
T20 against Windies.
"We've got a lot of confidence in everyone in the squad – everyone can do a job,” he added further.
