The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 sporting director is furious at many fans’ abusive comments about the 27-year-old on various social networking websites and has revolted against such treatment
For the first time in his long and relatively anonymous career, 27-year-old Fabrice Apruzesse made his Ligue 1 debut during Olympique de Marseille’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of Girondins de Bordeaux at the Stade Chaban Delmas on Sunday.
The French striker, who has been assigned the number 33 shirt for the current campaign, became a subject of mockery in various social networking sides after the defeat which leaves the Rhone giants in fourth place in the Ligue 1 standings.
Although football banter is pretty common and almost every players is on the receiving end of such things from football fans, Jose Anigo has branded Apruzesse’s mockery as a pathetic attempt by people on a player who does not deserve such treatment.
“It’s pathetic. But it does not surprise me more than that because it’s always the same with social networking. It is the most cowardly act to destroy someone. We talked about it between ourselves and the players as we were shocked to see such things aimed
at a boy who has not asked for such treatment."
Anigo says that Apruzesse is a good person and it was something really beautiful for him to make his debut for Marseille which was ruined by ‘evil’ people making a mockery of a player who has just begun in pro career.
The former Marseille coach was indeed on a crusade against people who mocked his player and then mocked at the club’s lack of depth on the bench. The sporting director says that it was not Apruzesse’s fault that the team lost and justified the player’s selection
by saying that during his training session with the first-team, the striker did some interesting things which prompted Elie Baup to name him on the bench.
“He showed some interesting things while training with the pros last week. He is also not the first or the last player who makes a move on later in the first-team. We say this two years ago with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Rolland and at that time, I did not hear a negative
comment on the subject.”
Indeed, it is surprising to see people criticise a debutant who was so happy to realise his boyhood dream of one day playing for a Ligue 1 side. Such comments are rarely constructive and should not be taken seriously.
Apruzesse on the other hand, does not seem to be affected much by the mockery and is keen on working hard to prove doubters wrong and for his sake, let’s hope that Apruzesse becomes a revelation for Marseille this season.
