The Olympique de Marseille sporting director admits that the club’s form has seen a significant slump and has ruled out letting go of any player in the winter transfer window

Lately, things have not gone according to plan for Ligue 1 outfit, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127. After an excellent start to the 2012/2013 Ligue 1 campaign, Les Phoceens’ form has seen an obvious slump. For two weeks in a row, Elie Baup’s side failed to take advantage
of rivals, Paris Saint-Germain’s slip-ups in the Championnat and are now in fourth position in the Ligue 1 standings.
Although not many people expected Marseille to be where they are right now considering their financial woes, it is still hard to take the way the side has slipped down the pecking order in the Championnat. However, the slump in form does not worry sporting
director Jose Anigo at all who remains confident about the team’s future.
While talking to L’Equipe reporters, the sporting director said that the club’s form has slumped in recent weeks but there is no reason to press the panic button as many players out injured would come back and then the team would be at full strength again.
“There is no reason to change course, we must stay watertight and airtight about everything we hear. When we have our entire staff, we will be better,” said Anigo.
For Anigo, there is no reason to worry as when the club has a fully-fit workforce to choose from, things will improve.
Owing to their financial crisis, Marseille have been forced to tighten their belts. However, Anigo has ruled out the possibility of a player leaving the Stade Velodrome in the winter transfer window.
“We’re in a pinch but I’m not thinking about losing players. If in the summer, we were stressed for a sale, this is not the case in January. And even if there was a sale, I think that the president will not leave us naked, we let go (of a player) to buy
a replacement,” says that former Marseille coach who surely will have his work cut out for him come the winter transfer session.
