The club’s sporting director feels delighted by the French outfit’s performance this season, as Les Phoceens are tied with Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Lyonnais for the top spot in Ligue 1
Olympique de Marseille had a perfect start to the 2012/13 campaign, winning their early Ligue 1 fixtures. The French outfit has appeared as serious contenders for the Championnat. Club’s sporting director, Jose Anigo hailed the efforts by the players, feeling
satisfied with their performance so far.
The Rhone giants have been a resilient side in the first-half of the campaign. The club has earned 38 points from a total of 19 games. The Marseille-based club is currently level with Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Lyonnais at the top of the table.
Jose Anigo feels that Les Phoceens have bounced back nicely despite a poor performance last season. The sporting director is happy that the side has considerably improved and felt no hindrance in stating his joy. He exclaimed:
 “If we were told at the beginning of the marathon that we would be on 38 points at half-way, we would have signed and been happy. This is a great achievement for the players and something good for the club.”
Despite being thrashed twice in the Ligue 1 by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 respectively, the club still has managed to make progress. Anigo praised the former French champions for showing real character. The Frenchman was proud of Marseille's
performance against SC Bastia and FC Toulouse. The sporting director said:
"We will go on holiday with peace of mind to prepare for the other part of the championship with peace and quiet. We had some difficult times but we were able to bounce back, such as [games against] Bastia and Toulouse, taking nine points from nine to finish
[the year].”
The French club ended the year with a hard fought victory against AS Saint-Etienne. Andre Ayew scored the only goal of the game to secure all three points for his side at the Stade Velodrome. Anigo added:
“It was not easy but it has placed us in a comfortable position, and we must continue."
