The Olympique de Marseille sporting director still has no love lost with the club coach and has said that he is not responsible for the dire straits experienced by OM
Between Olympique de Marseille sporting director Jose Anigo and coach Didier Deschamps, relations have never been cordial or amicable. Though the two men had decided not to discuss their feisty relationship in media, the sporting director has finally cracked.
Anigo says that he, in no way feels responsible for the dire straits http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 experienced this season.
While talking to Le Provence, the former Marseille player said that it is important to hold your tongue before saying something especially when one is at fault. Anigo went on to say that he can look himself in the mirror as he does not blame himself for
what happened at the club.
That was what Anigo said last October in one of the most historical rants against the club’s coach, thus declaring his vehemence at Deschamps.
That rant forced President Vincent Labrune to hold a meeting. Since then, the two men have not spoken a word to eachother and are still working together. Grotesque the situation may seem, that’s the way it is and it’s hard to see things improving in the
near future.
Now, the sporting director has put water in his wine by staying away from the media and even if he does come across a journalist, Anigo prefers not to talk about his relationship with Deschamps.
However, Anigo’s patience was tested thoroughly in the second half of the campaign in which Les Phoceens were simply terrible. A poor run of results and then a poor end to the campaign has forced Anigo to react.
“It is an historic season where we did not win single game in thirteen matches. I work for a club, not a person. When this happened, I had the impression that it stung everyone’s backsides. I probably expressed myself in terms that can be modified but these
things happen. I took it upon myself, I left seven months of clutter without being with the team. So I am concerned about everything that happens at the club, but not responsible for the unsatisfactory performance.”
Certainly, Anigo is in no mood of a truce with Deschamps and the feeling is likely to be mutual.
