There were many players that Olympique de Marseille wanted to sign but could not do so due to the club’s financial problems and in an interview, the sporting director had a few revelations to make
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 may see most of their transfer targets join other clubs this summer. Plagued by financial and economic difficulties, the Rhone club has made just one signing so far in Florian Raspentino who joined the club as a free agent.
Asked by 10 sport, sporting director, Jose Anigo is still hopeful of signing a few players but admitted that the club’s transfer budget is defined in terms of sale meaning that as long as the club does not sell a player, a new one cannot be recruited.
This issue can be perfectly illustrated by the example of FC Sochaux star http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryad-Boudebouz-c31970. The young winger is keen on joining Les Phoceens according to Anigo but the club cannot afford to sign him.
“We’re not in discussions with Boudebouz. It is true that he is a player who interests us and I’ve repeated several times that he wanted to come to OM.”
The absence of departures has also affected player’s arrivals. The likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marvin-Martin-c24496 and Romain Hamouma were keen on joining the Canebiere club but delays in Marseille’s dealing saw the two men join Lille and AS Saint-Etienne respectively.
“Yes, Martin, Taiwo, Hamouma, they have spun under the nose. It’s a bit frustrating as there were many who agreed to come to us. After that, there is a rule that was set by the shareholder and one must respect it.”
The likes of Stephane Mbia, Cesare Azpilicueta and Nicolas N’Koulou have attracted considerable interest from a host of European sides but are still Marseille players. Anigo admits that there are no major breakthroughs but contact has been made with clubs.
“Everything is clear, we defined the players who might leave and those we want to keep. For Remy, the door is closed today. We no longer want to sell him.”
Anigo also revealed that Andre Ayew will not be sold but the club will show flexibility if a good offer is received.
