Jose Antonio Camacho bemoans China loss to Iraq as World Cup hopes fade
Having gone down to Iraq in Doha on Friday, China’s hopes of making it to the 2014 World Cup finals are all but over. China team manager, Jose Antonio Camacho, expressed disappointment at his team’s loss, as they are left with an improbable task of making
it to Brazil in 2014.
China and Iraq locked heads on Friday, November 11, at Doha, with Iraq edging out China in a 1-0 thriller. Younis Mahmoud’s stoppage time strike sunk the Chinese hearts as their World Cup hopes suffered a serious setback.

Camacho believes that his team was desperately unlucky not to have gone in front despite creating ample opportunities throughout the 90 minutes. He rued his team’s missed number of chances which swung the pendulum in Iraq’s favour.

“In the last three matches we have created many chances, but we can’t seem to score. We did very well at the beginning and the only thing our opponent could do was play long passes. We did our best, but in football the most important thing you need to do
is score.”
Further speaking about his team’s bad fortune, the 56-year-old added:
"I am disappointed because we wanted to win and we tried our best, but we had the same problem we suffered in the game against Jordan as we controlled the game and nearly won.”
