Jose Bautista helps Toronto Blue Jays defeat Kansas City Royals 4-1 – MLB Update
Toronto Blue Jays defeated Kansas City Royals 4-1 at the Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri on Monday, April 23 in the finale of their four match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
With their win over the Royals on Monday evening, the Blue Jays also completed an emphatic series sweep against their American League East rivals.
For the Blue Jays, Jose Bautista had a great outing as he hit a two run home run to set up an easy win for his team.
Starting pitcher Brandon Morrow held the struggling Royals’ battling line-up to just seven hits and a walk in just over six innings. Toronto will now be facing Baltimore Orioles in their next three match series in American League East.
"Talk to us at the end of May and see what our record is," Royals' outfielder Jeff Francoeur said. "I still believe we've got plenty of talent in this room to turn it around, and that's what we plan on doing. I wanted to get this one bad tonight just to get one at home."
After making a strong start to their 2012 season campaign, the Blue Jays experienced a huge dip in their form, which damaged their win-loss record to 10-6. However, the way they have lifted themselves in their last few games is a clear indication of what they are capable of.
John Farrell and company were one of the most successful teams of Spring Training session and they will be looking to continue their brilliant run throughout the season to give themselves a chance to win their first World Series title since 1993.
"I thought Brandon did a great job from the third inning on," Farrell said. "He pitched out of a number of jams."
"That's a good team over there with a lot of good players," he added "They've got a very good, talented young team."
Royals, on the other hand, have no one to blame except for themselves. With a poor 3-13 win-loss record, they will have to work extremely hard to keep their hopes alive. It will be interesting to see if Kansas City can perform any better in their future games.
