Jose Enrique and Joey Barton set to return in Newcastle’s preseason training – EPL News
Newcastle United’s assistant manager, John Carver, has revealed that the Toons’ influential left-back, Jose Enrique, and midfield magician, Joey Barton, are expected to return for the club’s pre-season training on June 4, 2011.
Enrique and Joey Barton both have been heavily linked with a move away from St. James since the start of the transfer window.
Enrique established himself as one of the best left-sided defenders in the Barclays Premier League in his debut season and has gained interest from Liverpool and European Champions, Barcelona.

Enrique and Barton both are in last years of their respective contracts with the Magpies and are very likely to move away from St. James Park in the current transfer window.
It is reported that Newcastle United have not offered a contract extension to Joey Barton and are willing to sell their playmaker for £4 million.
Moreover, Enrique was offered an improved contract but the Spanish defender has yet to sign the deal, which means that the Magpies would have to sell him in order to prevent him from leaving the St. James Park on Bosman transfer next season.
